The Sixth Form Centre provides excellent facilities in which to work and socialise. A blend of traditional architecturally significant and older buildings mix with a range of the most modern, striking and effective new facilities.

The space to study…
The Hunter Resource Centre was opened in April 2004. It provides first class accommodation for student study and revision. Its banks of flat screened IT monitors all wit h internet access are a major benefit to student research, encouraging independent learning and promoting personalised approaches to study.
The new air conditioned library facilities include books, newspapers, subject specific periodicals, magazines and audio and visual storage and playback software. All are provided for reference and borrowing. A new viewing suite is also available for student use.
Take the stage…
The 220 seater theatre is one of the two largest in the City of Durham. It provides good facilities for dance, drama, and music as well as for lectures and presentations, aided by large screens and multi-media equipment.
The Science laboratories occupy a dedicated three storey building of their own.
The Centre boasts a large and lively Refectory. Here the students gather to make new friends, meet old ones, have lunch or a snack, and plan their next social event!
The Arts…
The new award winning Visual Arts Centre opened in February 2006. It provides superb opportunities for students to pursue their artistic interests and develop their skills. With its high airy spaces and excellent natural light, it is proving immensely popular.
The design:point studio within the Visual Arts Centre provides a graphic design facility for a wide range of clients and provides students with a first hand insight into the day to day running of the design consultancy.
Sporting Futures…
Our new building programme moves further when in summer 2008 our stunning new Sports Complex, complete with Swimming Pool, Sports Hall, Dance Studio and Fitness Suite will open. It is sure to prove of immense benefit to our students and the people of Durham.
So, the Centre mixes a blend of traditional and the modern where new ideas and methods for teaching and learning are encouraged, developed and balanced, alongside those which are tried and trusted.
