The International Baccalaureate Diploma Comes To Durham!
Durham Sixth Form Centre is delighted to announce it has been given approval, following an Ofsted ‘Plus’ inspection, to offer the internationally, highly regarded IB course, equivalent to ‘A-Level Plus’ starting in September 2010.
It is a course for students with a love of learning, who are frustrated at the idea of having to drop subjects of interest at the end of Key Stage 4.
Durham Gilesgate Sixth Form Centre is the County’s sole nominated and supported provider. The International Baccalaureate Diploma (The IB) is the most widely recognised academic Sixth Form qualification in the world. As such its breadth and depth of study provides an international currency.

Japanese Tea Ceremony

As part of our IB programme we are offering Japanese as one of our options. A group of students came into the Centre in July for IB Taster Sessions where they took part in the Japanese tea ceremony.
This was performed by students from Teikyo – the Japanese university here in Durham.
