This is to ensure students have a personalised programme in preparation for the examinations.

You may not know where you are going but we aim to offer you impartial information, advice and guidance to ensure you know where the many paths lead and can make an informed decision. We will support you and your parents in your career journey by:

Providing you and your parents with a student entitlement to Careers Education Information, Advice and Guidance (CE/IAG) for all years (7-13)

Providing you with Careers Education as part of the Personal Development and Wellbeing Curriculum at Key Stage 3 and 4 (Years 7-11) and the Enrichment programme at Key Stage 5 (Years 12 &13). This will meet the three National Framework Careers Education Outcomes:

  • Self Development
  • Career Exploration
  • Careers management

Ensuring the delivery of this programme will be supported by staff Continuing Professional Development opportunities and the Learning Gateway.

Working in partnership with Connexions, local employers, Further Education Colleges, Sixth Forms, Workbased  Learning Providers and Universities.

Offering you personalised guided support via you tutor and Leaders of Learning, both pastoral and curriculum.

Providing you with impartial IAG that is in your best interest. To support this aim we will ensure that you have access to Careers Software, the Area Wide Prospectus and the Common Application Form.

Providing  you with timely, comprehensive, and up to date information on 14-19 options:

  • post 14
  • post 16
  • post 18

Getting feedback, your opinion is important to us and we will gather your opinions and seek your ideas for improvement through annual focus groups, programme and activity evaluations.

Durham Learning Gateway

Students can access a range of careers resources on the Durham Learning Gateway. (Students not familiar with their user names or passwords should contact the Resource Centre.)
